Summer Favorites
Summer is in full swing here in San Diego. May and June were overall pretty gloomy but July kicked us into full gear. Now heading into August, the Dog Days of summer, cue Florence, I've found myself grappling with weather-appropriate fits. Here's what I'm loving this season.
The Display: First off is this very #minimal (#ikea) white clothing rack on which to display it all really cutely. This thing was an absolute steal and they even had some cute white metal space-saving hangers to match.
Cropped, Flared, Frayed Denim: I'm loving this casual and flattering style of denim. I've pretty much only worn high-wasited denim for a while now and I was a bit reluctant to try the flared style. I've since been completely convinced and am even excited to try more flared shapes. I picked up a pair of the UO BDG in a light wash denim and the ASOS Egerton in white.
The Linen Jumpsuit: I've found my most cherished summer piece in this striped navy linen jumpsuit from Topshop. It is incredibly light and airy and surprisingly not all that prone to wrinkling. In the case for effortless dressing jumpsuits are a winner. They are out of stock in this color but there is a sweet yellow one still available. Some other super cute options: here & here.
The Flouncy Top: Whatever you call this type of statement top, I'm here for it. I picked this up in the Zara sale a bit impulsively. The color combination is one of my favs and I love the lightweight, flowing material. This takes an easy outfit and instantly makes it more fun. Pro tip: continue the party on your ears with a statement earring.
The Gingham Mini: I absolutely love the ongoing gingham trend and I hope it's here to stay a bit longer. I picked this up from Brandy Melville quite a while ago and I've got a ton of wear out of it. I love wearing it under a cropped sweater to play with proportions. Check out some similar ones: here, here, & here.
Paper Thin Knits: As someone who is literally always cold, I love the idea of being able to wear a knit on the less scorching days of summer. Bonus points for a collared knit. And for those of you who think yellow is unflattering on yourself, I say try different shades and you might just find the one. I've found mine in this pastel number from Zara. A navy crew neck sweater is also incredibly summery when paired with white denim for all those nautical vibes.
Lazy Girl Accessories: I honestly love the cat eye trend as it's probably my favorite style of sunglasses to wear. They're retro and effortless and make simple outfits way edgier. I'm also loving the slides trend and these simple Bershka are an easy upgrade from sandals. I also picked up these very simple gold oval hoops from Asos that are a bit more interesting that classic hoops, shop similar: here & here.
