New Years Goals and Intentions for 2019
The New Year is here and has already taken off before my very eyes! Here it’s January 10th and I’m only just now sitting down to write out some new years goals and intentions. I attribute this to a whirlwind holidays that turned out to be just the break I needed. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’m taking my time getting back into the swing of things. I’ve decided to take my time online as well, and not hold myself too strictly to a blogging schedule in January. So here we are, my New Years goals and intentions for 2019!
Practice Pescetarianism. I’m ready to cut meat out of my diet this year while continuing to eat fish. I plan to take this dietary transition slowly because I really want it to stick. Once a few years ago I decided to go from a diet that consisted of everything to a completely vegan diet. While the switch wasn’t too difficult in itself, it took about 9 months before I was back to my old diet due to a lack of research and a distaste for cooking which I’ve yet to grow out of. This time I want my dietary change to be sustained over the years and one day I hope to become fully vegetarian.
Find a workout I enjoy. Working out has never been apart of my normal routine. This year I’ve decided to continue doing the physical activities that I actually find enjoyable, such as yoga, and also find new activities to try. So far I’ve taken my first barre class and started a gym routine with my boyfriend. I also plan to muster up the strength to join a pilates class one of these days. I’m also looking into adult ballet classes, which might be the most enjoyable form of exercise I’ve ever found.
Experimenting more with my style. One major change of perspective I’ve had since returning from my trip to Hawaii this December, was to embrace my surroundings. I’ve talked before about not feeling my personal style matches the city where I live. I’ve decided that I really want to work to change that thought process this year. I want to embrace more color and work to find a style that just feels like me! Taking a note from Marie Kondo, I only want to bring items into my wardrobe that bring me joy, regardless of whether they match “my style”.
Make my passion project a habit. Blogging, photo, and video content is what I love to create. It really allows me to do everything I’m passionate about. This year, I was to prioritize my passion project and make a promise to myself to carve out time to make it happen. Working full time and blogging can feel exhausting, and my day to day tasks can leave me feeling tired and even defeated some evenings. But I know that being able to create in this way, brings me more happiness and energy than most other things in my life and I want to make sure I have enough time to continue doing what I love!
So, I’m curious… what goals and intentions are you setting for yourself in the new year? Let me know in the comment below! xx Jessica
