When we think about Black Friday it can feel like an exhausting marathon of long lines, crowded aisles and mindless spending. I’ve definitely fallen victim to the barrage of sales and promotions in past years. But these days, I much prefer the convenience of online shopping and the opportunity it creates to spend more mindfully, get exactly what I need and skip the anxiety that accompanies the holiday shopping buzz.
There are a few items I’ve been eyeing up for a while now and Black Friday (or the 2 week period that it’s become) presents the perfect opportunity to invest wisely in my wardrobe while still getting the best bang for my buck and all that jazz. Cashmere: The Winter Essential
A cashmere sweater is pretty much the quintessential winter wardrobe piece. My mom used to rave about her cashmere collection when I was growing up and now we compare notes on quality and price. But the fuzzy stuff is not cheap and so naturally the best time to buy it is during the sale season. Then you don’t have to worry about sorting through the odd colors on the clearance rack in the middle of summer. That’s right, get ‘em while they’re hot…or rather, while it’s cold!

So I think it’s fairly apparent that I don’t need to buy anymore outerwear this year but if you happen to be in the market for a new winter coat or jacket then now is a great time to get these pricier items at a discount. Tops and blouses are the hardest thing for me to buy, and I’m a little too attached to my t-shirts and knitwear. A classic silk blouse has been on my to-buy list for ages and I just haven’t brought myself to shell out for the right one just yet.
