Curly Haircare Review: R+Co

When it comes to curly hair, I’m always on the hunt for my new favorite products. It’s a bit unavoidable isn’t it? The minute I think I’ve finally got my routine down, either the season changes or my texture does and I’m back to square one. The best thing I’ve found is to just try out a lot of different products, because eventually something will work. So when R+Co reached out to me to try out some of their coveted products, I jumped on the opportunity!

I’m no stranger to R+Co, in fact I was introduced to the all natural, cruelty-free brand a fews years back, while at a salon. What I wasn’t aware of is the line of curly hair products they offer. I was interested in trying some styling products for my twist out so I settled on the Turntable Curl Defining Cream and the Wall St. Strong Hold Gel in the end. The verdict? I really liked them!

My Honest Thoughts

I used the Turntable Curl Defining Cream straight out of the shower, while detangled my hair. The product is a nice thick texture, and I could see my curls becoming more defined as I ran my Tangle Teezer through them. There was also no buildup residue in sight, which is an issue I’ve had with some heavier creams in the past due to the low porosity of my locks.

Then I went in with a generous amount of the Wall St. Strong Hold Gel before twisting each small section. The texture is a bit different than what I’m used to, a thick and rather sticky (tacky?) gel. It took a while for it to dry all the way through, which I noticed after partially drying my hair with a diffuser. But the end result was good: it did its job, holding my curls in place and gave them a nice shine too. I do think I used a bit too much product, which is maybe why it took so long to dry. My hair still moved and didn’t feel too crunchy which is always a good sign for styling gels.

And my favorite thing about these products (apart from the super cute designs) is how great they smell. SO many curly hair products out there have such a strong chemical smell to them that stays in my hair for days. The R+Co products I tried both have a really lovely fragrance to them, and just the right amount of fragrance too. A curly hair product that’s not overpowering? I’m an instant fan.

I’ve also got a small sample of the High Dive Moister and Shine Cream that I’ve yet to try. Can you tell I love hair creams? And I’ve got my eyes on more of their curly products, specifically the Twister Curl Primer and the Cassette Curl Shampoo and Conditioner with Superseed Oil Complex (sounds v nourishing).

Have you tried R+Co products before? Are they apart of your haircare arsenal? I’d love to her your thoughts in the comments. Thanks for reading! xx Jessica
