My First Experience With Teeth Whitening + GIVEAWAY

Recently Smile Brilliant got in touch to see if I wanted to try out their at-home teeth whitening kit and I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve never actually tried whitening my teeth before and will admit that I didn’t really know much about what went into it. I was also a bit concerned about sensitivity, since I didn’t know how my teeth would react to the treatment. After giving it a bit of thought, I decided to try it out and I’m so glad I did! So today I wanted to walk you through my first teeth whitening experience with Smile Brilliant.
Choosing the Right Kit
When choosing the right kit for you, there are a couple questions you should ask yourself: Do you have teeth sensitivity? You can choose from the Non-Sensitive or Sensitive range. And do you have light, average or heavy staining? Then you can choose the T3 , T6 or T9 kit, depending on the number of applications you’ll use. Smile Brilliant very kindly gifted me the T3 Sensitive System, which is specifically designed for those with sensitivity and light staining. It comes with three whitening applicators and three desensitizing applicators, which lasts for roughly nine whitening sessions.
Making Your Custom Trays
Once I received my box, I found instructions for creating my custom trays. This entailed mixing together the provided materials to create a goo, setting it into a couple trays and biting into them to create my dental impressions. It sounds complicated but was actually quite easy when I followed the instructions. They even give you an extra set of materials in case you mess up the first time around. Once finished, I mailed out my dental impressions and had custom trays in hand a few days later!
Finding Your Routine
I used my teeth whitening treatment for about 10 days but the amount of time will differ for each person, depending on the amount of staining. You can decide what time of day is best for you, but it’s recommended to whiten your teeth at night so it’s easier to go without eating or drinking anything for a while. It’s suggested that you start off with 45 minute whitening sessions, working your way up to three hours, depending on sensitivity.
I decided to do my treatments at night. I first brushed my teeth with water, filled my trays with the whitening gel and set them in. After the allotted time went by, I took them out, cleaned the trays and brushed my teeth with toothpaste. Then I filled the trays with the desensitizing gel and left them in for another 20 minutes. You are not supposed to rinse your mouth out after desensitizing or eat/drink anything for at least 30 minutes after.
My Thoughts On the Experience
After ten days, I definitely see a noticeable difference in how white my teeth look, which is great considering how little effort it felt like on my part. Luckily teeth sensitivity was not an issue for me at all during this process, but I appreciated the peace of mind of using the desensitizing gel. I also love the fact that I can keep the custom trays and just order gel refills in the future. That alone sets this product apart from any drugstore whitening kit in my eyes.
The only thing I didn’t like about this experience is that I chose to do the process at night, which limited how long each session lasted for me. I was mostly concerned about not being able to eat or drink during and for a while after each session. But in the future I would probably choose to whiten during the day so that I could keep the trays in for longer.
