10 Black-Owned Sustainable Brands To Know

Today I wanted to get back to talking about a favorite topic of mine, sustainable fashion. I thought I’d share a list of some Black-owned businesses I’m loving, a few of which I’ve just learned about recently from all of the resources being shared on Instagram lately. So if you’re looking for a sustainable swimsuit, capsule wardrobe piece or everyday handbag then check out the 10 brands below and support Black businesses in the process.

Jade Swim

Effortless, minimal designs and made from sustainable materials in LA. What more could you want?

Brother Vellies

A designer shoe brand by Aurora James, who recently launched the 15% Pledge, a call for major retailers to pledge 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned businesses.

Two Days Off

A minimal capsule wardrobe collection, sustainably-made in LA by one of my favorite bloggers, Gina Stovall.

Míe

A Lagos-based brand making the most beautiful linen maxi dresses among other things. My favorites are the statement sleeves on the Gozo, Phi Phi, and Havana (pictured) dresses.

AAKS

A Ghanian brand that makes colorful and intricately woven handbags, my favorite being the adorable Baw Pot Bag.

Tree Fairfax

A favorite of the sustainable fashion community, these handmade leather goods make the perfect minimal accessory. Along with the Half Moon Crossbody Bag I also love the Fairfax Mini Tote as a versatile everyday bag.

ASHYA

A luxury accessory brand making the coolest belt and crossbody bags I’ve seen.

Zou Xou

A conscious made-to-order shoe brand based in Buenos Aires. The Eugenia Flat (pictured) has been on my wishlist for a while now and comes in so many gorgeous color options.

Jane Dottie Vintage

An online vintage shop that I absolutely had to include for their gorgeous hair scrunchies handmade from vintage fabrics.

Petit Kouraj

Luxury handmade handbags that make quite the statement.
