A New Blog Series
Today I wanted to start a new series here on the blog where I showcase individual outfits each season with ‘Summer Outfit 1’ being the first. I take a lot of outfit photos without ever going into much detail about individual pieces and how I put them together. I’m hoping that this series will give you some inspiration for styling items in your own closet and help you source pieces that you’re looking for yourself. And as I continue with my slow fashion journey, I hope it will be an opportunity going forward to further showcase the awesome sustainable brands that I collaborate with or shop for myself.
The Perfect Summer Denim
Today’s look is quite indicative of a typical “summer” outfit for me, as I’m not a huge fan of shorts, dresses and skirts in summer. I find jeans to be a comfortable option pretty much year round, until it gets to be unbearably hot in the dog days of summer, usually around August here in San Diego. These Re/Done Stovepipe jeans are a new purchase (which I got on major sale!) and a much more relaxed and casual cut than the other denim in my wardrobe. They are a bit of an investment piece but a fantastic sustainable brand to support, that really lives up to the hype.
Beach-Ready Accessories
I’ve been reaching for my basket bag a lot lately. I was gifted this piece from a lovely small brand, SOCCO Designs last year after purchasing and using the heck out of another one of their bags. This one feels so chic with its brown leather straps, classic market shape and it’s also super functional as an everyday/ shopping/ travel/ beach tote. It just adds so much summery oomph to an otherwise simple outfit and it makes me feel like a cool French fashion girl too. I’ve also been loving the flip flop trend this year and was super excited to try out these minimal Tkees sandals (gifted) from their Nude line.
