Summer Outfit 4
Today’s summer outfit, the fourth in a new series, is one of my favorites this season. Check out the last Summer Outfit here. I talked a bit about this dress in a recent post, which was a roundup of oversized dresses. So if you’re also loving these big, spacey dresses then definitely take a look at that. This outfit has really made me feel excited about summer outfits, because its cool, comfortable and still feels like me.
The Simple Summer Dress
I remember searching for the perfect oversized summer dress and imagining it in my mind back around springtime. I finally found it in the form of this Tribe Alive Poplin Shirt Dress and I am so happy I added this to my summer capsule. It’s one of those pieces that feels effortless, minimal and also extremely comfortable. I love the dramatically minimal silhouette that I’ve been seeing on so many chic women, Kim of Love Cloth being one of my favorites! And I don’t think this has to be really dressed up to work either. I actually think this dress lends itself really nicely to more casual fits too.
The Dad Sandal Trend
Another trend that I really loved from last season and this one, is the dad sandal trend: a classic outdoorsy brand and a practical shoe. My favorite, and I believe one of the more accessible brands for this trend, is the Birkenstock Arizona EVA. I distinctly remember obsessing over a pair of Birkenstock mules back when I was around 10 years old and my older brother used to wear them religiously in high school so its quite a sentimental brand for me.
I went with this updated version because it’s one of the only pairs with all black hardware, apart from this lovely investment sandal, and it’s made out of recycled materials. They are plastic, which I would normally be completely opposed to but I was recently in need of some water shoes and I thought I’d go for a cute pair that I’ll get more use out of. Not only have these worked fabulously as a water shoe, I’ve also been wearing them nonstop since I got them, hiking socks & all.
