My March Goals

Well hello there and happy March! The days are getting longer and sunnier and the seasons are slowly starting to change. I absolutely love Spring (I am a spring baby after all) so this time of year always feels a little more exciting than the rest. I will admit, the end of February flew by in a busy whirlwind and I often got the feeling of treading water to keep up with everything. I’m hoping that this new month brings the opportunity to refocus on some new goals and get a bit ahead on the old to-do list. So as a continuation of February’s post, here are my goals for the month of March. And please do share your own in the comments below. I always love to hear what you all are working towards.

A Personal Performance Review

This month marks my one year anniversary of self-employment! Seeing as I’m my own boss, and thus biggest critic (aren’t we all?) I feel it’s only right to give myself a little performance review. It’s so easy to get stuck into the daily grind and loose sight of the bigger picture. So this month I plan to sit myself down to parse out my business growth progress and asses last year’s goals. I’ve already set some new goals at the start of the year, but I do like to revisit those every 3 or so months to make adjustments and stay on track. If you happen to be a fellow self-employed person and have a good way of going about this performance review, I’m all ears!

Reclaim My Weekends

You know how I mentioned the treading water feeling earlier? Well a big part of that came from poor planning on my part. Ever since I started blogging, I’ve always given myself the shortest turnaround time possible, leaving little room for error or unexpected plans and many a late night editing sesh. This month I hope to finally catch up with my own content schedule and get a little bit ahead of things. I pan on making some much needed adjustments to my schedule so I’m working smarter, not harder. Mark my word, I will reclaim my weekends and find that realistic work/life balance I’m always going on about. I suppose this comes with the learning curve of self-employment but it’s definitely something I’ll be prioritizing this month.

Reach A Milestone (Hopefully)

So I’m not usually one to talk about numbers and follower counts, as I feel like it’s frankly rather boring to listen too but since we’re on the subject of goals there is one I feel deserves a mention. This time last year I had just over 2700 Instagram followers when I quite recklessly quit my job and plunged headfirst into the world of full time content creation. Does that sound like a good idea on paper? Hell no! Did it make sense for me at the time? Honestly, not really. Do I regret it? Not a chance! All this to say that follower counts are arbitrary numbers and everyone’s path looks different. But setting and working towards a goal slow and steady-style is probably the most valuable skill I’ve learned in the past year. This month my goal is to reach 10k followers. Maybe it’s a bit of a stretch and I can’t say I have a real strategy to get there but I’m writing it down here in the hopes that I can somehow will it into happening.

So that’s what I’ve got planned for this month. After my relative success with accomplishing last month’s goals (didn’t quite finish that book) I’m starting to see how affective it is to write them down each month, even if it’s only as a reminder. Do you like to set yourself monthly goals? And if so, do you write them down or just sort of keep them in the back of your mind throughout the month? It seems like it could be a fun journaling exercise to envision the month ahead and put your ideas down on paper. Let me know what you’re currently scheming up and have a lovely March!
