A Classic Spring Outfit
Ah spring fashion is some of the best in my opinion! The mix of florals and frills, sweaters and sandals really appeals to the California girl in me. It’s that time of year when you finally get to shed the heavy winter layers in favor of lighter and brighter looks. Today I thought I’d brighten things up a bit here on the blog and share one of my favorite classic spring uniforms and the key wardrobe staples that make it work.
A Classic Trench Coat
If there’s one wardrobe staple that screams spring to me it’s got to be the classic trench coat. After a very long search for the perfect trench last year I finally settled on my first choice, the Sezane Scott Trench. Go figure, the beloved french brand would make one of the best and most affordable classic trench coats out there. It has all the trimmings of a classic trench: the epaulettes and sleeve straps, the large lapels and weighted cotton in the perfect camel khaki shade. This coat makes me feel so good when I put it on and it’s classic cut (not too oversized) ensures that it will be a wardrobe staple for a long time to come.
Lightweight Sweater
I love the unpredictable weather of spring because it means I usually get a bit more mileage out of my favorite winter knitwear. But when things do start to warm up I love to reach for my lightweight knits that are just a bit too cool for winter. One of my personal favorite styles is a classic cardigan, either a thin cashmere crew neck or a ribbed knit that can be worn as a top. I’ve also got my eye on the Sezane Léonite Sweater, the perfect nautical striped boatneck style that now comes in a few colors.
The Perfect Jeans
My ideal spring denim is a mid or light wash in a slightly more fitted straight leg style. Some of my favorite denim is the Re/Done High Waist Stovepipe jean. The fit of those jeans are so classic and understated, so flattering and still modern feeling with the raw hem. If there’s one classic denim staple I would suggest to anyone looking to invest in a go-to pair of denim it would have to be those. They’re inspired by your favorite vintage Levi’s and actually reworked from the repurposed denim too, stylish and sustainable.
Simple Accessories
I recently dug my cat eye sunglasses out of storage and have quickly rekindled my love for the classic style. I love a tortoiseshell color or classic black, like this style from Le Specs. And as usual I’v been wearing my everyday gold jewelry pieces. My most worn earrings hands down are the Ana Luisa Venus Hoops. The size and weight makes them perfect for everyday and the quality has held up beautifully. I’ve also been wearing my beloved Missoma x Lucy Williams coin necklace and layering it with other simple chain necklaces like the Mejuri box chain or the Ana Luisa Jo chain.
