September Playlist
The slow change in seasons has put me more in the mood for a super chilled playlist as of late, one that I can play in the background during an afternoon thunderstorm or listen to late at night.
While I never got much into Radiohead growing up I have been enjoying discovering their discography over the past few years. They recently rereleased their albums Kid A and Amnesiac with a few never released tracks including the hauntingly beautiful If You Say The Word, which is setting the mood for this month perfectly.
I’ve also been delving more into dub and roots reggae, a genre I grew up listening to thanks to my parents. Some of the slower, reverby rocksteady sounds have peaked my interest, The Aggrovators, Alton Ellis and The Paragons in particular. And with the recent passing of dub reggae legend Lee “Scratch” Perry, it only felt right to pay tribute to him in this playlist too.
I know I’m super late to the party on this one but I’m so into Cannons lately, especially their super sultry cover of Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire.” I’m not even a fan of the original song but I also can’t stop swooning over Michelle Joy tbh. They have a whole series of Covers by Cannons and a few other indie renditions of pop songs too if that’s your jam.
So those are the sounds that will be filling my September (and maybe yours too). I’d love to know what you’ve been listening to lately. Pop any musical recommendations in the comments below!
