I Can Do It: How to Use Affirmations to Change Your Life

by Louise Hay

While struggling through a couple other books this month, I picked this up instead and it ended up being quite an enjoyable short read. I’ve never really understood what the big deal was with affirmations but after reading this book I can honestly say it’s something I’d like to adopt as a regular practice. This coupled with starting The Five Minute Journal this month has been quite inspiring and motivating!

Three Japanese Short Stories

by Akutagawa & Others

A short read for a night when I just couldn’t get to sleep. This was a short and sweet introduction to classic Japanese literature for me. The stories were just the right amount of melancholy and offbeat to hold my attention. I especially loved the vivid imagery and atmosphere of the first story, Behind the Prison by Nagai Kafū, although I can’t say I followed the plot very closely of any of the three stories.
