How I Grew My Pinterest Engagement with Tailwind
One thing I love sharing here on the blog are the resources I’ve found for blogging and content creation. I know the pressure to be active on every social media platform is real, but one of the best ways to curtail some of that pressure is to work smarter, not harder - I’m taking automation! My favorite automating tool is called Tailwind, which allows me to schedule my Pinterest posts at the most optimal times throughout the day.
Why Automate Pins?
I’m going to be completely honest, when I found out about Tailwind I didn’t really even get the point of automating Pinterest posts. But I kept reading over and over that pinning your blog posts can get major traffic from the sight to your own. It’s also true that a single Pin has a much longer “lifespan” in terms of its ability to reach new people and even go viral, compared to say an Instagram or Facebook post. The pins can keep going for day and weeks with more and more people finding it with each re-pin.
And now after using Tailwind as consistently as possible since April of this year, just 7 months, I’ve seen the most drastic increase in engagement across any of my social media channels - from roughy 8k impressions to over 307k monthly impressions and from an audience of roughly 180 people to 10.6k people. This is insane growth- and all organic might I add, not a single paid promotion in sight.
How To Use Tailwind
So here are some quick tips for getting started with Tailwind. The Plus plan costs $14.99 a month, making it the most expensive tool I use to automate my posts on any platform but in my mind it’s a worthy investment. I tried out a free trial first and then just couldn’t part with it after my 100 Pinterest posts were up, mostly because I would never be able to post as frequently (and efficiently) on Pinterest without it.
Right now I have about 10-15 optimized time slots to post per day and I schedule all of my posts a week at a time. To do this I use images from my blog primarily, my Instagram, images I find while browsing Pinterest and even while browsing shops online. Once I have all my images chosen I am able to drag and drop them in any order I like. You can also add additional posting time slots of your choosing.
To pull images from each source I use the Tailwind plugin on my web browser, much like you would use the Pinterest plugin to add photos from other websites. See? It’s as easy as using Pinterest itself, except with a more optimized posting schedule. On top of all that, Tailwind also includes weekly summaries of pins and re-pins, most popular pins and a whole host of other insights and analytics for you to track your growth.
So if you’re interested in trying out Tailwind, give the free trial a go and see what you think. If you want to see a full list of blogging resources that I use, check out this blog post.
