The Right Bra For Your Outfit

You all know that I am a big fan of True & Co. and the super comfortable wireless bras they make. I’ve already written a full review on what has come to be my most worn bra. So I was thrilled when they sent me a couple of new styles to try out. This time around I tried the Mesh True Body Scoop Neck and this lovely Madison Lace Bralette from their Lingerie line. Finding this brand has really got me thinking about how to select the best bras to work with your wardrobe - something I struggled with for as long as I can remember. So today I wanted to give you a few tips that I’ve picked up over the years.

Get a Fitting

I know everyone always says this but I can’t tell you how important it is to know your actual size for a garment that you presumably wear almost every day and which effects how every top or dress is going to look. I very embarrassingly only just got measured last year and it turns out I had been buying an entirely wrong cup size for who knows how long. Now I feel confident buying bras online because I know my real sizing so it becomes more a preference of styles than fit. Game changer!

Wash With Care

Another thing I’ve been guilty of for a while is not taking care of these garments in the wash. Not washing them properly or throwing them in the dryer with a pair of jeans and a sweater is the fastest way for a good bra to lose its shape and become unwearable. By using a mesh washing bag or hand washing and air drying your more delicate items, you’re increasing their longevity. My mom has always used mesh bags in the wash and now I know why.

The Everyday Bra

As someone who considers a t-shirt my number one wardrobe staple, I feel like I know a thing or two about a good t-shirt bra. The Triangle Convertible Strap is my number one pick for the perfect t-shirt bra because its virtually undetectable underneath and the v-neck cut works under all of my necklines. After only wanting to wear that bra for a couple weeks I then purchased the V Neck bra as an alternative, which offers a bit more coverage. So far my thoughts on the Mesh Scoop Neck is that it’s both breathable (thanks to the mesh strap) and great for strapless tops (thanks for the convertible straps) for the warmer months.

The Occassion Bra

One area my bras collection was lacking was in a practical but cute option to wear under blouses or lower cut dresses and tops. I love the look of a lace trimmed bralette as a type of occasion bra if you will, something a bit more special and feminine without being too vampy (not for me, personally) and uncomfortable. I love the fit of the Madison Lace Bralette for that reason and because it' still provides support while looking cute. The right occasion bra is really going to depend your personal style; bralette, balconette, a plunge bra, it’s up to you!
