My Spring Wardrobe Plans

And just like that, it’s time to shake off the winter blues (and blacks and grays) and turn our attention to lighter and brighter layers! While I won’t be packing my winter knits away just yet, I’ve already started to dream up what my ideal spring wardrobe would like like. I’ve got a few pieces in mind that I’m particularly excited to start wearing again and a few pieces that have made their way onto my wishlist too. So today I thought it would be fun to have a big old spring fashion chat to share some of the styles and trends I’m most excited about.

Lavender & Lilac

As you may have gathered by now I’m a neutral clothing gal through and through. But when I do wear color (apart from brown, right? lol) it’s often some shade of lavender or lilac. It’s been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. It was the theme of my childhood bedroom, complete with matching walls, bedding and lamp shade.

Apart from my lifelong devotion to purple, I also believe it to be a universally flattering color. You can go warm toned with a lilac shade or cool toned with a blue-grayish lavender. And it happens to one of the trendiest colors for spring for the second year in a row. The Jude sweater in lilac is the newest addition to my spring capsule, kindly gifted from Tradlands’ new S/S collection. It’s a thinner, lightweight knit which feels perfect for spring and I love how it pairs with my camel coat. This outfit is very much inspired by all the chic French women effortlessly incorporating lilac into their classic wardrobes.

The new Tradlands collection launches today along with expanded sizing, new knitwear and all the classics in new colors! Use my code ‘Jessica15’ for 15% off your first order.

Chunky Sandals

All winter long I searched for the perfect lug sole boot to no avail and heading into Spring I still can’t seem to get my mind off a chunky shoe. One style that I happen to love, but I know is a bit controversial is the fisherman sandal. I believe we have The Row to thank for this polarizing shoe trend that gives me very 90’s dad on holiday vibes. I love the way Brittany Bathgate styles hers with both big billowy dresses and more tailored monochrome looks. Alohas makes a great sustainable dupe that I’ve had my eye on for a while. Shoes are definitely my weakness when it comes to a small wardrobe and I’m still debating on just how wearable this trend is. What do you think; love or leave them?

Luxe Lounge Sets

Since we’re all still spending a whole lot of time at home at the moment, I’ve been eyeing some spring/summer appropriate loungewear. One brand on my radar is Donni. They’ve somehow managed to create a line of loungewear that I could actually see incorporating into my everyday wardrobe when this whole lockdown situation is over. I’m talking dainty two-toned cardigans and pullovers with pearl buttons and zippers, terry bralettes and short sets, henleys and waffle knit matching sets. And their color palette is very 70’s activewear-esque which I’m definitely here for!

Oversized Shirts

This one is less of a trend and more of a classic closet staple that I return to every year. But lately I’ve been seeing more oversized silhouettes in lightweight materials like linen and cotton. I love the new styles from Esby’s S/S collection, in particular the Chelle top and the Viola dress. Just think, a big flowey button down over a pair of slim leg jeans or pants and some chunky sandals; the perfect non-fussy WFH look to carry you effortlessly into spring and summer. I plan to pull my Laude linen tunic out of storage as soon as possible. It’s such a versatile piece and last year I styled it tucked into wide leg jeans and draped over leggings. It even makes for a great bathing suit coverup as it’s basically a big linen shirt dress. If you’re shopping for an oversized piece just go with your usual size or even considering sizing down if you prefer a less exaggerated cut.
